cellulose paint , is it still available?

I need to do some paint and bodywork soon and would like to use cellulose. I spoke to a local supplier and they say it has been replaced with 1k which is the new replacement, he said its the same but with some of the solvents taken out. Has this affected the drying times or the durability of the paint? I would rather use cellulose if i can still get hold of it, any help or advice welcome.`

    Hi john123,

There was a fella at the NASC Swapmeet this year had a stall and was selling ALL types of paint and thinners, he should be able to help you, all you need to do is identify who he is.

Have a look through this thread post#2 and post#27 was his stall, one of the other stall holders may know who he is. I will ask Mark Ashman when i see him on Friday or you could also try Gary/Sharron 'O' Conner as i think they were responsible for the pre-booking for the trade stands.

Hope this may be of some help.

    Cheers.

    Russ.

I found that if you have an historic car or a commercial vehicle then it is still permissable to use the 2K
So I found a commercial repair center that was owned by a serious petrolhead and he organised to paint the GT40

that said his premises were fantastic and the amount of extraction ****e on site for the fumes was amazing.

That said the value of his land was too high and someone made them an offer he could not refuse so the operation is no more!

I've no problems buying 2k from various web shops, or the local-ish paint shops. There's a place that usually advertises in Craptical Classics that sells celly, could be a good source for factory colours etc.
