    chevy 350 carb.

    i have a 350 chevy engine with a edelbrook 750 carb fitted
which my mate has lent me, the motor seems way too rich,
normaly it would have 600 cfm carb, but how low can you go
for economy, i have a 305 chevy 2 brl carb and manifold
but would this feed a 350, there were 2 brl carbs fitted on
350 engines also, can anybody help or has anybody got a
2 brl, going to old warden in a couple of weeks time.

If I was going for a 2 barrel I would use a Holley 500 cfm ,once had a 2barrel holley on a 307 chev and it performed like you wouldn't believe !
A 750 is too big for a street 350 , jetted and adjusted right a 600 cfm 4 barrel would be about right ,plus give better off idle response. In fact many people are running carbs too big for their engines.
I know of a 396 big block running well on a 600 vac sec.
Would try to avoid the stock 2 barrel , try to get a 500 holley or go up to a 600 4 barrel if it was my car .

For a 350 aiming for fuel economy I'd stay Edelbrock over Holley. A 600cfm Performer carb would be a good compromise, the 500 might prove to run too lean at the top end without jetting changes. Or hunt down a Carter AFB in 575 or 625 form.
