    Chevy truck column change linkage

I'm re-assembling my mates '53 truck and although I'm putting it back as taken apart it doesn't look right to me . The shifter rod furthest from the driver is on an angle is assembled as it came apart .ie there is a plain shank that goes through a rubber push which then takes a washer and split pin.

Both of these point down the shaft towards the steering box. To make them go in straight the bottom one wants taking off and reversing so the pin points upwards ?

Coudl someone take a look at their linkage and tell me which way is correct please ?

    cheers
    Kev

Hi, would this be the same as on a column change tri chevy car?, if so, had the same problem, as the bloke i bought the car from had the "arms round the wrong way..
Try it with the pins facing outwards, with the split pins on the outside of each arm, rods on the inside of each.
should give you the clearance to change gear, and not fowl anything..
Hope this comes across ok..will try find a few pictures to help.
Only other thing to do, is see if a panel van/truck owner has a build sheet...
