I thought pub gas didn't get the heat into the weld as good? I have had a BOC account for about 8 years now and just recently asked if i can pay monthly. Yep, aint a problem as my £85 was due 24th Dec, not a good time of the year. I now pay Just under £8 per month which i hardly notice and have nice clean welds, well most of the time,
You only get what you pay for,,, pay the money for the right gas and weld properly,,, It could be you at the wheel,,,,,,,,,,,,, that comes off and hits,,,,,,?
As far as BOC are concerned, they have recently started tagging their bottles with a serial number and will only exchange a bottle registered to an account.
Try www.mig-welding.co.uk forum and look in the shielding gas suppliers thread, but you would be much better off with an argoshield bottle a gas, i had price from energas last year of jst short of £120 to take a bottle, this included the gas, the gauge, the yearly rental on the bottle and the enviromental surcharge, this was for the second size up bottle and was around £50 cheaper than boc.
I work for a brewery so I can get as much CO2 as I want for free.
But I don't - I have an account with BOC and I use proper Argoshield. CO2 produces ****ty welds (in my experience) and my welding needs as much help as it can get.
