If you are only reading 98c at top tank , in this weather , all is good , trust me . With a 13 lb cap on you have another 32' to go before it will push water out and officially overheat.

So . if you put gaffer tape over your gauge how doe sthe motor sound and feel, like overheating ?

Has the truck got a heater? If so, have you run it with the heater on to get fluid all through the system? I just had problems with a car where it had lost all water and despite refilling it, it kept overheating until I ran it with the heater on and got all the air out. More extreme than yours sounds, but worth checking.
    Screw EU

a little hole drilled in the thermostat helps it to bleed itself.

Just done that with the 'stat in ashley's zephyr. They used to do 'stats with a 'jiggle pin' for that purpose, must be too expensive to make these days. Neil.
