agreed, the money you'd spend on the efi conversion would buy an awful lot of petrol. and as you'd probably only get an extra 2-3mpg at best it'd take a very long time to make the cost of the conversion back in fuel savings.
spend the money getting the chopped cab sorted mate, you know it's the right thing to do.
need a job done on your project? i may be able to help.

Thats exactly what I thought originally.
But the Fitech unit I first saw was a lot less than 2 grand, thats what got me thinking.

I've bought a FAST 2.0 system but not installed it yet,
The main reason was not the additional mpg but it'll most likely deliver slightly more,
Power wise it'll generally match or only pick up approx 10 or so peak hp over a very well set up carb,
much more if changing from a badly tuned one,
It's more about the other beniefits that it offers than is generally better than your average tuned carb,
Stuff like better cold starting, being able to drive immediately from cold and generally better throttle response when you stamp on the gas,
If you wanna change the tune up, depending on what kit the timing and Afr's can be altered in seconds on the fly,
When you've been in a few EFI V8 cars you'll soon appreciate how much better it can be for driveabilty on the street.

For street use fitting a smaller carb may be a better option?
