    Engine Paint in 2 Pack?

Is it acceptable to paint an engine block and cam cover with 2-pack paint? It seems to be the best way to get a colour match. Both are cast aluminium in my case.

Yes. I used 2 coats of 2K epoxy primer followed by 2 coats of 2K gloss and it's fine. Obviously cleaning and prep before hand is essential.

Does it cope fine with temperature? I guess its OK with the odd drop of oil and petrol too?

Yes, my engine was freshly rebuilt so is running hot as it's still tight. The late Steve Lang always used to paint his engines this way with excellent results so I followed his advice. Obviously cleaning, abrading then cleaning again is critical before painting.

Painted mine with 2 pack many years ago and it is still fine, didn't do the head as that must get very hot on the exhaust side, so I polished the ally on the head.

just realised you cant see the block on the pic, still looks good honest

before paint I always use an etch primer such as https://www.bing.com/images/search?v...x=7&ajaxhist=0 did my rover V8 lump about 15 years ago and is still good.

you are right it is a 77 3.5 out of a seven series, it has twin webers on a 3.0S bmw manifolds, the original sevens had a single four barrel but I wanted the look of twin carbs, the smaller distributor from the 3.0S as the bigger one from the seven wouldn't fit under the bonnet, I put a fast road cam in because a genuine BMW cam was double the aftermarket price when it needed a new cam. As you can see it a tight squeeze in the Celica engine bay
