    Fitting a cable bonnet release

My upright Prefect bonnet has the aeroplane type handle to release the bonnet which is not very secure against unwanted interference. I would like to change the aeroplane feature sometime, perhaps even get rid of it completely to make a smooth finish like seen on another's car in the gallery. Can anyone recommend a donor or aftermarket lock assembly or kit that would do the job? Cheers - Dave

Did the conversion on my Prefect years ago used escort bonnet catch there was plenty about then.any 70s or 80s british tin will have a suitable one.it might be a trip to a brakers to see whats on modern cars but you will probably have to chop it out of the slam panel and mod it to fit

That's a much appreciated offer Pete. No rush as got plenty on at the moment. I usually plan well in advance while trying to finish the current projects. Meanwhile if I can get a preview of an MX5 with its bonnet up I will have a good look. Cheers, Dave
