Ford 9 inch half shaft question (splines-power)

Ok people quick tech question.......in your expert opinions or user tested experiences. For a street vehicle which will be running street tyres (285/60/17) and never on slicks. 500bhp at the flywheel (eventually) and a 4.11/4.55 rear end with a toploader would you say that 31s are overkill or would they be a necessary upgrade over the original 28s.....assuming once the original 28's break (if they do) I'd upgrade to Moser or Strange hardened ones

I'm assuming my drive shafts are 28's rather than 31's due to the fact its not a locker and I'm not using a truck even if it has these dimples in the end of the shaft rather than the single large cut out.....apparently the two small dimples only works for pre 71 stuff
This is a Ford 9" obviously and the vehicle comes in at about 1900kg

moser or strange 28 spline shafts will be much better than stock but with 500 hp i'd be tempted to go straight with 31 spline when the stock ones break. remember to budget for a 31 spline diff too.
need a job done on your project? i may be able to help.

Well I've got a quote from Andy Robinson for a complete 31 spline set up so I know how much it'll cost me

I really need to pull one of these shafts fully and see what I have as if it turns out I have 31's already it'll make life a lot easier/cheaper!

then get a quote from Summit delivered to your door, significantly cheaper than buying through a UK company

I've only bought stuff from Jegs via their ebay shop so far, which uses the global shipping program. Ie, when you check out, it includes all duty and fees. No more £8 rip off Parcelfarce fees. As an example I bought a box of 12 quarts of Joe Gibbs break in oil, and the postage was something like £17.

28 spline shaft should be fine for street use on street tyres..had mine on the pop for years with no probs, it's when you put on drag radials and hit the track doing this

    This will happen

Then it's time to get Wayne at Oddrods to build one of these with 31 splines...
That was my first ever car that was........

It would be but AR are £1280 in the UK with taxes paid for the complete third member built to my spec and then a set of Strange shafts with studs, bearings plates etc are £600 + VAT, total cost £1980 inc VAT

Summit will only ship to an airport on the 3rd member!
