    Ford c4 help

I haven't run my car since last September until today, when I parked it up all was working well. All I've changed is the carb over the winter. When I took it for a drive today, in Drive it was changing up fine, but when it got below 25mph it changed down gear rather quickly, to the point where it was really jerky, and it never did before it was parked up, it changed down smoothly. Any ideas why it would be doing it now? It's a c4 behind a 302.

is there a vacuum take off from the carb to the gearbox ?

if so, is it on the right stub on the carb ,there may be a constant vacuum source stub, and a ported stub, that only works once the throttle is open a set amount , i think you want to be on the constant source .

Good advice above. Only thing to add is if there's a lack of vacuum i.e. you forgot to reconnect the hose at all. Or the kick down linkage from the carb is hanging loose...

Previous carb was an edelbrock that I borrowed to see if it was any good for my set up, I've now bought my own edelbrock. Vacuum lines connected to the drivers side port on the carb (it's right hand drive) same as the other carb.

check the other end of the pipe where it goes into the modulator on the gearbox..if all seems ok make sure no splits/holes in pipe,if thats all good, take the pipe off at the gearbox end & look inside the modulator ..it maybe adjustable with a slotted screwdriver (ive had these work loose before)
just offering some free advise based on what ive experienced myself..i dont pretend to understand the full witchcraft of a slushbox!
