I can't see why anyone would think it won't work. Arguably the most famous Fordson in this country, Hot'n'Bothered ran an almost identical set up with the coilovers mounted on the hub carriers. Built in 76(?), it's been on the road ever since and drove fine, Jonathan Hebbeler certainly racking up the miles in it. Currently being rebuilt for its current owner by Dave Harries.
