Hi folks thanks for the replies

I've just checked with a multi meter and I am getting continuity between the chassis and the sender so is that a good or bad result??

    Regards Stuart

Is the gauge not working, or what exactly is the issue you're trying to resolve ?

That's a good result but I'd still run a seperate wire to earth. Ally and steel don't mix well so you could end up with continuity problems after a time if you get some corrosion between the two

yes a good result that means you don't 'have to' fit an earth wire for the sender. you can if you want to (belt and braces) but the gauge will work without.
need a job done on your project? i may be able to help.

Is the tank that shape all the way along or does it have a well in it? It looks pretty thin, if you you may have pickup problems when it runs low on fuel.

I think it's the camera angle tbh it's 9" deep and it's baffled

Depending on your driving style you may need to fit a swirl pot type tank if you have problems with starvation under braking or cornering but you can do that at a later date if you have issues

I'll see how it goes, I normally run plenty of fuel in the tank
