    Gearbox question

I am havin trouble with my powerglide and am thinking of swapping it for my th359 which has some performance parts in it but am concerned if it will be ok behind a big block?
The car will be raced at the pod now and then the rest of the time its street driven.

    What do you reckon?

I would rebuild/upgrade the powerglide to better specification. It's going to be more economic as well, the same prop, shifter and no tunnel mods. Either way the beat of luck with it.

    Cheers Rog
The problem is with the cooling connections whoever had the box in the past has split the case with the wrong connector male piece,I never spotted it till it was in and under a bit of pressure.
think I will see if I can get it out and get it welded there is a company local to me that weld ally.

You could replace it with an ATI Super Case, it would also eliminate other weaknesses.

As Rog has said I would stick with the 'glide. I was thinking of swaping for a th350 when the glide started giving problems but my mate said just rebuild it. So we did just that in his garage, new bands, steels, seals gaskets, modulator etc. Works perfectly now and has saved me a whole bunch of dough that I would've spent changing over to the 350. I would say though that of your going to put some serious power through it i would recomend changing the tailshaft to a stronger th400 one. Plenty of trans shops in the states supplly these. Hope this has helped you decide in some small way...lol. Rog.
