Wow................I'm learnin things here!!.............I'm amazed the 2K sticks cos ally needs an etch primer for paint to stick. Bright anodizing, I like the idea of that, although the panel is 15" across, most of it is fluted but the centre area would be 3" wide n 8" tall with the speedo in the centre of it.....................are u sayin once I've polished it to perfection, n it's been BRIGHT anodised jt'll look similar to chrome?

If you really want it chromed, and to stay chromed, remake the panel in brass! As Briz suggested getting chrome to stay on aluminium often ends in failure, especially on bike parts. On an internal part like a dash panel you may be lucky.
    Screw EU

Bright-dip anodising is great, used on loads of 50s & 60s cars for grilles & other trim and doesn't tarnish.
Problem is finding an anodiser who still does it. Last one I knew of packed up 20 years ago.
Ordinary clear anodising has a matte look.
Ask anodisers if they do bright-dip. If you find one, I'd love to hear about it.

Oh, and another point re anodising; what alloy did you use?
Has to be pretty close to pure aluminium for anodising to get a good finish. Common alloys like 6082 always come out matte.

Aaaaaarrrggghhh!!.............funk it!...................that's crushed me grapes!! so, it's either chrome plating or spraying with 2K clear.

So Mygasser, do you just polish then degrease the ally n then spray the clear? or is there more to it, who's make of pant do you use?

yes, that's all i've done. i did a copper street lamp 'head' for my dad who was fed up polishing it for it to green again. we took it down, he polished it and i just panel wiped it clean and used normal 2k clear. i do the same with chinese chrome engine parts too as they rust nearly as fast as bare steel, just degrease with panel wipe and paint with clear. i've used aerosol clear on small engine parts, it's not worth mixing up 2k for that. maybe do that for your dash part. it'll only come off if you chip it in my experience.
    neil.
