    My diff case is the same as the 8.8 but the axle has tapered ends?

    My 8.8 has tapered ends too but mine is an Explorer axle so it's narrower than yours (offset diff in Explorer), the 3 " offset has been cut from the long side to make it central.

    FYI mine is a 31 spline axle.

    Thanks for info mate I took mine apart today and it looks like it's an 8.8 if I measured the ring gear right but has 28 splined axles. My axle tubes are 3.125 thick what are yours?

    I was just about say I think it's an 8.8, can you double check the number on it as nothing comes up for that number. The 5 at the beginning is probably an S. Clean it up and wipe dec caulk or something over it.

    Is it defo 28 spline? Have you had an axle out?

    From memory mine are 3 1/4, is that what you meant?

    yes deffo 28 spline have gears removed now not a 7.5 anyway its 8.8 or 8.7 hard to tell with a tape ,axle shafts are 26 and a bit and 27 and a bit in length
    This is on the gear USA DOAW 4210 B thats it

    Most 8.7's were 2.47-1 ratio, although up to 3.25-1, what's your ratio?
