Help with Vauxhall Victor master cylinder......

    Hi Folks,
I'm rebuilding a brake master cylinder off a Victor ( F-Type 1960), got hold of the rebuild kit but don't have a workshop manual, yet.

The pump aint pumping! There's pressure there but fresh fluid isn't flowing into the cylinder. The way is clear from the reservoir but it's just pumping air not refilling. Also the three holes in the piston are clear.

This is how I've got the bits:

I've tried the shim both ways but no dice. All seems to go together ok but have I got something wrong?

    Any ideas?

    Cheers,

    Jon

I take you are using Dot 4 brake fluid and not silicon brake fluid. You also need 1/4 to 3/16th free pedal travel to make the the piston is returning fully home.

Yes I'm using Dot 4 and bench testing so I have full stoke on the piston. It is returning fully home too.

    Cheers,

    Jon
