How many teeth should a 2 litre pinto engine cam belt should have?

    Hi,
Im not sure whether my pinto engine has the right timing belt fitted. The engine is a 2 litre single cam sierra engine. I am not sure of the age to be honest.
I can't get the timing marks to line up perfectly on the cam, so I'm wandering whether I have the wrong belt.
The engine had been skimmed by the previous owner, not sure whether this would make a difference.
    Any help???

Sometimes the marks dont line up perfectly,if massively it skimmed will not line up also a 1.6 belt is shorter so make sure its a 2.0 belt you have,if the belt is old and stretched same alignment problem..

How can I tell if its a 1.6 belt?
Its carb, I think its standard cam. I haven't checked to be honest. Its hard to see how far out the marks are as my setup in my car is awkward and I have to use a mirror to see it. I'm guessing its just under a tooth out

I have had a look at the camshaft a moment ago and the following is stamped on the end:
    GA 9455
I also checked the cam belt and the following is written: contitech CT 687
Can anyone Shed any light on this please?

they never lined up even when new. if the heads been skimmed it may be worse. get a vernier pulley to get it spot on, they're not dear nowadays.
need a job done on your project? i may be able to help.

If its a standard ford cam or replacement the lobe angles were ground so rough in terms of accuracy you could fit them a tooth out and hardly notice the difference

Have you finally fitted the belt yet, reset the tensioner, and rotated it twice to settle it all down and checked again?

After searching through google, it seems the belt is correct for my engine.
But I am still unsure whether the camshaft is standard or no

The belt was already fitted, and I tensioned it and rotated twice on the crankshaft yes.
Also had a check after running it, still the same though
