I'm wondering if anyone can help....
I got my truck the other day and she wasn't running right. Cylinder 2 lost compression due to the rocker nuts coming loose and the threads are damaged on the studs. It has had a set of new hydraulic lifters fitted just before I took delivery and my question is that Do they need removing and draining of oil in order for them to 'reset' so to speak and take up the proper amount of lash?
The reason I ask is that I have managed to get the rocker nuts to nip up onto what is left of the threads but as I wind them down they are opening the valve quite a lot before the nut gets to the shoulder it would tighten against.
These are not adjustable rocker nuts, the lifter takes up all the slack, but its like they are full of oil and need putting in a vice and winding back to squeeze the oil out. I fear that the lifters may have not liked being pumped full of oil without resistance of the rocker and valve against it.
Cheers in advance. Andy
