    Intake air filter for compressor.

I have a compressor with a missing air filter.
How would I make a replacement?
Could I use the element from a car intake?

yes, I have done this a few times, find a filter that has a round outlet and make an adaptor to suit.

if it's the enclosed ones about 3-4" diameter that have a male thread (about 1" ish diameter) to screw into the head of the compressor i think we may have a few at work.
need a job done on your project? i may be able to help.

    Thanks.
Unfortunately it's not like that, there is a rectangular port on the head that I will have to attach it to.

It's a Clarke compressor, so I might even be able to get a replacement even though it's about 20 years old.
