    IVA glass question

I need to check the acceptable glass marking for the IVA test, under SVA I understand glass marked BS857 was OK, is this still the case as an equivalent to E 43R or must it show the 43R marking?

    Thanks

    Rich

At the moment, E43R is all they will accept. I do understand that this may not be the case in the future.
I'm doing an "A" sedan and already have the glass (BS857 marked) fitted, and was told not to get new glass cut and tempered YET.
I'm sure Kev will be along in a minute, he may have a more up to date answer

Hiya, only just picked this one up as just back from Cornwall. Currently still only EC43 no other marks acceptable. It will cause problems on older cars with curved glass for sure. All I can say is that it's being looked into at the mo. If I hear anything fresh I'll post up asap.

It's all to do jargonese with the way the IVA was rewritten using EUWVTA guidelines as opposed to a straight rewrite from existing SVA regs.

Thanks for the replies, I have the templates with the glass supplier who says he can get E43R marked but it will take longer ( cost more I guess) I cannot afford to wait too long, these changes can be a bit open ended regarding time scales.

    Cheers

Ok, update is that there is now a 12 month exemption , so spec will remain at SVA levels ,after representations from the kit car side of stuff . ACE will be following up to try to explain the situation re NON kit cars to gain a full time exemption for those cars unlikley to be able to comply after that period in time.
