    Jag rear wheel bearings

    One for the mechanics

Just replaced them .this is a xj40 rear.

These type you just put everything together and torque the main nut up.on doing that, the hubs are pretty hard to turn by hand.

Is this normal.ive used quality branded bearings and reassembled as it came apart.

Once we run up the truck there in,will they loosen of slightly.

    Thanks

I've not worked on the XJ40 raer end but on earlier ones the big thick spacer before the nut has to be a worked out value to set your end float .

Same here , done loads of E type /S type bearings but not XJ40 . Did have (should still have) some spacers .OK just did search and there are spacers and it should have . 076mm end float.

Edited as I can't remember which way the spacer sizes work.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6n71TNpDULc at about 10.50min, it's the early type but the principle is the same.
If you leave it as it is the bearing will seize when it gets hot
