    Lack of power under load

Hi can I get some advice before I go any further, long story so bare with me...
I rescued a 59 caddy that had been sat for 9 years. Have had absorbs of problems with starting and running, I now have got a loss of power when the car gets to about 30mph, it's fine driving it around the estate at very low speed's. So far it's had plugs, leads cap rotary arm, electronic ignition upgrade, timing set, new carb, fuel filter, and now I'm thinking of changing the mechanical fuel pump to an electronic one, the mechanical one is a sealed unit so I can't look inside. Am I doing the right thing? Or is there something else I'm missing. There also doesn't seem to be any vacume leaks either. The car starts and idles and runs at low speed's great. I don't want to give up on it as it's a nice car just been neglected for years. Thanks

When I get the lack of power it's like there's not enough fuel and tried to cut out.

i would also check fuel lines, make sure it isn't blocked or crushed, try blowing it through, I've had more Cadillacs than you can shake a stick at and never had to fit an electric fuel pump. A new manual pump is cheaper than a decent electric pump and saves all the hassle anyway. Have you tried running the car from a can or other fuel supply to eliminate the fuel lines

Hi fuel tank was removed and cleaned and new lines put on just before I got it. So I'm assuming that's ok.
It drives lovely until you get to 30-40mph

fuel filter ? there may be a blocked filter in the line somewhere , or maybe the carb has a little filter in the fuel inlet that is clogged .

don't assume anything. fuel lines nowadays have a habit of getting gummed up due to todays fuel. I would pull them all and replace them with appropriate fuel line.

Hi fuel filter housing removed filter replaced and refitted, has had a new carb too. I will check the fuel lines again but I'm certain they are ok. It's strange that it's fine until higher speeds that's why I thought fuel pump. Probably missing something obvious lol

Is it revs related rather than speed related, if you put the shifter in a lower gear does it bog down at the same revs. Did you fix the transmission?

When it started playing up i shifted it into a low and tried it and it done it again so I shifted it into neutral and it tried to cut out, I blipped the throttle a few times and it came back to life. But then as I set off again it played up again. The transmission slips into second still.
