    Lpg on sbc

I have an lpg kit on mine,it doesnt seem to like it though, theres a drop in power and a bit of a missfire, infact, when i come to hills now,i flick it over to petrol and get a boost up.I am blaming a poor spark, its got new champion plugs, have ordered new ht leads and cap / rotor. It seems to be set up with a fast idle on gas,too fast for my liking and on petrol it hunts.Anyone got the same issues with theirs? How does youre perform,Its a single point type gas set up.(Late 80's sbc.)

Do you have the automatic timing adjuster or does it use the std timing on both LPG and petrol?

i dont really know,i just picked up the car 3 days ago.It cut out on me on gas,but ran on petrol,I got home and pulled the plugs, they were the dirtiest plugs ive ever seen in all my years.Maybe due to bad servicing ,but Im sure the lpg/timing isnt right.

LPG needs to run with about 10 degree more timing than on petrol, it needs the best leads, plugs and distributor to get the best spark you can get.

Yeah, but running on gas its idle is so fast, yet on petrol its normal, but hunts.Wonder if i should adjust the timing on the dizzy?Im going to see what its like with the new leads and cap etc.Its a coilpack on these motors isnt it,as opposed to a regular oil filled coil?is there an upgrade available?

Yeah,i think so Kapri, who knows who fitted it even.seems neat enough,Ive see some ballsups on other lpg fitted cars..,but interestingly.it has a gas nozzel fitting for a US spec filler and a uk one elsewhere.Maybe its had this kit since it was in the states 15 years ago.Pride, that kit you have is for non cat setups, mine has a cat,,I wonder if thats an issue on mine.
