    Max Tyre Width on Rim

    Hi Guys

    Could someone advise as to the maximum width of tyre that can be fitted to a 6 inch rim ?

    ive got a 235/50/15 on mine
    when i was a kid you didn' t have to say ; don't try this at home ; because we weren't complete morons back then

    on the old grays tyres adverts theyused to list min' and max' tyre size for each rim size. they said a 235 was maximum on a 6" rim.

    To big can look a bit balloony sometimes.depending on wall height.

    Interesting that some use a 235 as that size looks good on an eight inch rim

    That a very 'realistic' guide - in every case rather than have the widest rim for the tyre size being used I would choose narrowest rim for the tyre size selected - giving up a bit of presumed handling 'sharpness' for less risk in scraping rims on kerbs and a better visual appearance.
