I took this photo when I found the loose rocker Arm under the rocker cover...

Then I took the spark plugs out to look at them and took this photo.

your rockers look like the std stamped steel ones from the pic. if you use those you would probably need .100 over hardened pushrods OR you could go to roller rockers and the pushrods you have will be fine.

I have ordered 7.9" hardened pushrods from Real steel.
I will do the pen test with both.

When I loosen the rocker arm to remove the old pushrod and drop the new hardened one in its place,
do I simply tighten the rocker arm up again on top of it, or is there something you need to do to set it up?

when you reinstall it put the pushrod back in, turn the engine until that valve is closed. once the valve is closed tighten the nut on the rocker arm slowly until you just cannot turn/twirl the pushrod with your fingers then tighten the nut another 270 degrees. that's all that needs done.

Thank you, I have a question though, don't I have to tell the difference between the intake stroke and the power stroke and do it during one or other of them, and do I need to measure the torque of the nut when I tighten it?
(been watching how to youtube videos again and left puzzled I'm afraid...)

as long as the valve is closed it doesn't matter what stroke it is on. no measuring torque of the nut, just turn it 3/4s of a turn once you cannot twirl the pushrod between your fingers.

I would renew the "Simmons" nuts that hold the rockers down if they were not replaced., that could be why the rocker has come loose.
Im glad MOPAR doesn't have that crap set up for valve adjustment and stability, give me a real rocker shaft set up anyday.

just as the exhaust valve starts to open adjust the inlet rocker on that cylinder. just as the inlet valve closes adjust the exhaust rocker. that will work on any 4 stroke engine. neil.
need a job done on your project? i may be able to help.

Would be tempted to check the adjustment on all those rockers while your doing it
