    merc cl500 engine

trying to decide what engine to put in my fast back project, i have seen a merc cl500 v8 lump for sale and was wondering if any one had used one . its all complete with wiring and ecu but how much of a mission would it be to make it run and also would want it as a manual so has anybody got any idea what box i would use.

any help would be much appreciated.

I used a 450 merc lump in my humber, it was the earlier one with points ignition so easy. I'm currently putting a 560 in my model T, I'm loosing all the injection in favour of a supercharger and carbs (mainly for looks) I had it all running in the donor car and its not that complicated (if you have original loom) I'm also looking to loose the distributor as its ugly and go crank triggered and 1 coil per cylinder. as for manual box, anything that will handle the power will work with an adaptor plate, think big issue might be finding manual flywheel.
