    Minimum propshaft engagement length?

Not a race car, running a rebuilt 302 and a C4, what's the minimum recommended engagement of the propshaft splines with the transmission tail shaft?

Existing front end of shaft will show how it's previously been fitted . Fully fit to line those marks up and measure difference at rear to add to prop length. Most do arule of thumb of 2/3 SPLINE engagement, thta's NOT the same as 2/3 of shaft engagement as splines normally have a blank area and then a slight taper which is where you start to measure from.

He did, from memory his prop was too long and locked/bound up.

Thanks folks. I had an AOD and the prop was engaged almost fully. The C4 is shorter but the prop fits, however spline engagement is between 1 1/2" to 2" hence wondering if it's enough. I've got another yoke so I'll see if it's any longer.

2" is fine. Some yokes are very short.
