    Mk2/3 capri leg question

Anyone own a mk2/3 capri, Im trying to find out the measurement between the struts (left-right) from under the bonnet for a neighbour who too much angle on one leg compared to the other (visibly noticeable) and would like to just confirm that this is the problem ............................................. thinking about it anyone know what the caster should be so i can check this for him too

He hit one of those high kerbed bollards but it would just be easier to explain to him that if he has 37" between inserts and he should have 39.5 (not the brightest student) then its wrong (i think that 39.5 is close) he is also on about fitting the rally type tops at a later date so i was hoping to dazzle him with my knowledge that caster of 7% would be better than what he had (once its all square that is )

    Thumbs up

    Howdy,

I asked about the distance between the top/centre of the struts yonks ago when I fitted the
    Capri clip to my ride.

Pretty sure the answer was 1m so 39.5" sounds pretty close !?

I started with a spirit level on the discs to get the camber/ball rolling as it were

    cheers
    KJ

I think it was me Jim that answered you lol like i say its mainly just to give him the measurements to get on and do it (i dont want to get involved with it at the moment, One of those neighbours that only want you when they want something)

95% certain it's a meter as Jim said.
How'd the weekend go? Well, at the moment it looks like a dolphin that's been caught in a boats propeller.

Col, he may have but if we had the measurement at the top we he could rule that out

Caster and camber are low but important as in about .5 castor and 1-1.5 caster. Don't get confused by the reports of 7 degrees etc you see bandied about in tech write ups , these figures are for drag cars where straight line stability is more important than lightness when parking and tyre life etc.

A shagged track control arm with either worn out rubber bushes or ball joint will make a huge difference to caster.

Also if he's pushed one leg back then it will effectively reduce the caster by shortening the lower tre, check the other side as well. Also a bent anti roll bar will have the same effect .

Ill certainly will get him to check it all Kev but need the top measurement first for a starting point of reference
