    mk2 consul engine swap

    hi
i've just picked up a mk2 consul that someone has started to do an engine swap to, its got a 2 litre pinto fitted to the original column change 3 speed gearbox,, but the clutch pedal is not sorted, , can i use the original clutch master cylinder to the slave thats on it or if not what slave & master cylinder do i need, will the pinto work ok with the standard gearing of the consul box or would it be better with diff from another car, there is a 3.9:1 diff on ebay from a mk2 zodiac, would this make things better to use it on the road, not after going quick, just want to keep up with traffic when i take it out!!
has anyone ever done this swap before as i'd never seen a pinto on the original gearbox??
    thanks
    mike

    hi
the engine turns over by hand , but distributor is in bits & its not wired up in the engine bay, i dont want to get too involved with it if its all wrong & needs taking to bits , i bought off a guy who took it in as part exchange, so he knew very little about the car...

That's my biggest concern with the swap that the starter motor and flywheel ring gear aren't compatible. I'd try to get that sorted and if you can't make that work then go to a normal Ford box. The rest of the concerns about the clutch set up can be addresses after .
