    oil slinger/thrower

    the thin disc that goes on the end of the crank before the timing cover goes on, to repel oil I gather? is it needed, can it be done away with??

    360 Chrysler if it makes a difference.

    Its used to lubricate the timing gears...rovers have them too.

    I was just looking through one of my books on rebuilding the small block mopars, it says refit if you have it, I don't have one........chain gets lubbed off the cam retaining plate bolt on the 360, has a hole in it that feeds oil to the chain. may just make one to be sure
