    Overheating advice please

Starts up ok when cold and runs fine, when it gets hot it starts to miss and then if turned off won't restart until it's cooled down probably an hour later.
So far tried a new fuel pump and carborettor to no avail

    It's an old ford consul

    Any ideas?

Especially if they should have a ballast resistor, but don't have it fitted!
If I wasn't meant to go that fast, the pedal would only go half way!

Coil is one possibility, carry a spare and when it does it swap wires to verify.
Is there a thermal sheild between inlet manifold and exhaust manifold. May be fuel vapourising in float bowl.
Try an electric pump in place of standard.
Its either you lay down and die or you get on with your shit till you do!!!!! No Other Way Around It. One or the other. Don't worry about being forgotten, you will. Rather worry about in how long it will take for you to be forgotten, bro.
