Paint - Epoxy and 2 Pack advice needed

Hi, as a little side job instead of working on Pop, I'm repainting a boat outdrive leg and never used epoxy before. Can I spray 2-pack straight over epoxy if I do it say 30min after spraying the epoxy, or should I wait for the epoxy to dry, sand it and then spray the 2-pack black?

    Many thanks Geoff.

    What a mess

    Etch applied, epoxy next

either Geof, you could have skipped the etch though as epoxy sticks better.
I'd personally leave the epoxy to dry off and the go over it with a scotchbrite pad before topcoats.

you could even brush paint the 2k depending on how perfect it needs to be if you try i think you'll be surprised with the result from a brush

great thanks Mark, I just go epoxy and then the black on the gimbal housing that's on the boat, and I'll sand the epoxy and black on the leg in the morning.

I didn't, you did good, I can spray the leg as its off the boat, the gimbal housing is still attached to the transom and lots of pockets and internal stiffeners so I'll brush that and hope it flows out reasonably well.

    Tomorrows job, cleaning the gimbal

Thanks for your comments, all repainted and looking lot better, the drive will now be continuously in water to the next 2 years, it will be interesting to see how the epoxy and 2 pack black paint hold up.

Well, my pop will only have a cossy V6 when finished, but my boat has a 5.7ltr V8 :-)

Don't leave a Bravo three in for two years. You must change the anodes.
