    Painting over red oxide

Hi, any recommendations for a primer to spray over components that are painted with red oxide primer? I have some panels that were rusty so were sanded down and then painted with red oxide. In the past I've ended up with a reaction between the red oxide and the high build, and I don't want to repeat that episode, so any recommendations would be appreciated.

My painting is primitive, old skool whatever. I have found some red oxide zinc paints such as bonaprimer, have a semi sheen finish so either need rubbing down lightly before recoating or use a water base matt black paint as an undercoat to help the over coat to stick better. Also found this was a great help with chassis painting.

Red lead? Unlikley as not been available for a long time but when it is it's considered neutral re paint type. Red coloured primer more likley thta you'll need to find the old tin to find out it's paint type and over coat accordingly.

I used hammerite on mine to cover it worked no probs...but your after a high shine-finish...maybe a sealer first before applying any other paint...
