    I had the same problem....

I used a bonnet from a MK4 Ford Fiesta, cut the middle section out of it, the curves are a perfect match. I trawled through my local scrappy with the old bootskin in hand, placed it on a fiesta bonnet and 'bingo', like it came out the same mould!

    One like this....

Some models have two swaged lines running down the middle of the bonnet, don't use one of those!

Here's the finished result on my Pop..

    before paint..

    after paint..

    Just an option...hope that helps,
    Nick

Hi, yes that Fiesta bonnet was virtually spot on for compound curve, I took Nicks advive on the Fiesta bonnet, be careful though getting the inner skin bars off the bonnet and allow plenty of time so you don't damage the outer skin. Once free of the inner skin when you move the outer skin over the Pop boot lid you can find the sweet spot for correct positioning if you leave the original skin on first, once marked up thne trim off the old skin and it will probably only take a day to get it sorted.

    Cheers John

Cheers John, the search for bonnet has begun . New Pop skin around £100/120, surely can beat that price from a good scrappy. `Every little helps '. Dan.

the complete Fiesta bonnet was £5 from the scrappy..

As John says, the inner structure is stuck to the skin if I remember rightly, with a non drying mastic type gloop, just take it easy separating it so as not to warp the skin.

I removed all the inner structure before finding the best position and cutting the middle out of the skin, that helped to reduce any distortion. (also see John's post!)

    Cheers,
    Nick

Thanks all till now for answers . Just done 1/4 hour looking , found loads but none cheaper than a pony , he will take a score when the cash is flashed. But i would also need a base ball bat to rob him of it for a deep sea diver , fiver. Thats costly Essex for you .

Ah, I lucked out with the deepsea diver purchase price, the fiesta in question had been in a shunt so the bonnet corner was crumpled, hence worthless to anyone who didnt want to make a Pop bootlid from the middle of it..
