ok so at what temp should i set the fan to kick in at please
ive removed the thermostat centre (not a permanent thing)
ive bolted the mechanical fan on
ill fire the truck up later on to see if it makes any difference
Removing the center will make it run hotter, it causes cavitation air in the water ,just drill small hole in the side of therm try youtubeing it ,check there is no space around the rad so the air can by pass it,also the fans are going the right way .
and assuming its the correct waterpump not spinning back to front - ie the difference often between v pulley and flat belt later driven pumps some contra rotate...
.i'm not saying thats the problem but among other things to test/check
Worth drilling a bypass hole in the thermostat if it doesn't come with one, even though it slows the engine warm up slightly.
ok well I've just come in from a run up with the truck
so i have moved the fan so it now sits straight on the rad
I've took the centre out of the stat (just to prove its not getting stuck)
and its better but the fan can't cool the motor as the temp still creeps up slowly with the fan running
im stuck to be honest it appears that the rad cap opens up at 110 degrees as this is when i see steam but also it could be due to the pressure in the rad/hoses
I'm really in 2 minds
if you run it when its cooler...can you leave the cap off and see any water flow to confirm the pumps is circulating properly..?
with no guts in the stat it should be flowing really easilly....maybe now even flowing too fast for the rad to cool it....
trouble is its running way hotter than it should be too quickly too...
have you got a heater hooked up
the water seems to enter the rad through the top hose ?
guys thank you so much for taking your time to help
