Are you absolutely 100% sure that the temp sender is actually matched to the temperature meter??????

    Wheatstone Bridge and all that
Its either you lay down and die or you get on with your shit till you do!!!!! No Other Way Around It. One or the other. Don't worry about being forgotten, you will. Rather worry about in how long it will take for you to be forgotten, bro.

On another note, what temp gauge are you using ?
I only ask,if you are using a Smiths classic gauge, they run on 10v,and need a voltage stabiliser wired in !
    Don't ask how I know ! lol

ok well i have got the correct size gaskets for the 305 now
the left one had been replaced recently but by a compatable gasket and not the 305 gasket
i really don't have 150 spare to have them checked out for a poss crack

do you think its worth putting them together again with the new correct size gaskets and see what happens?

    Yep why not.
I have found Mexican made gaskets in particular to be substandard
All ways go for the best available .
Any problems after fitting do a leak down test.
