    Powerglide advice

This advert is in the classified section: "Powerglide 2 speed g/box ally body one, torque converter, dust sheild, two flex plates and dip stick. This came out a late 60,s right hand drive Imparlor its still got some colunm change linkage. £40."

Does anyone know whether this would bolt into a Vauxhall PB Cresta? The current box is a 3 speed hydromatic. It's a column shift. Engine is a 2.6 at the moment but hope to swap for 3.3 in due course.

    Any advice gratefully received. Cheers.

Looks likes the powerglide is sold now. I bet someone will post now to tell me it would have bolted right in and been just the ticket.

No idea but surised that you have a 3 speed in there. We used to have a PC 3.3 and that had a powerglide as standard.

I think that the PB went to a 3.3 motor with powerglide box in 1965. Mine's a 1964 so it's 2.6 with hydromatic. And you're right, the PC was 3.3 with powerglide too. By all accounts, a much better set up.

I've not swapped a 3.3 into a PB but have done the swap into a PA. We had to retain the PA sump and I think ( it was about 30 yearas ago! ) the oil pump and pick up.

    Forewarned is forearmed

Also made an adapter for a Weber DGAS and 6 branch exhausrt manifold for a friends FD Ventura ( same engine ) , twas a beast afterwards

I think the 3.3 PC Cresta or Ventora, along with the powerglide, will more or less bolt straight into the PB. That's what I'm hoping anyway. But will need to do a bit more research. I won't be doing the work myself. I've got two left thumbs and a hammer.

Got a six branch manifold in the cellar already, plus a ported and polished big valve head. Think I've located a 3.3 Ventora motor too. Just need the powerglide now.

Oh, and a triple carb set up would be cool. Maybe I could pick your brains next time I see you at the Chelsea Cruise...? Any advice appreciated.
