Problem with Mcleod rover v8 10.5 clutch set up

    Hi folks,
Fitted a mcleod 10.5" clutch plate and cover to my rover v8 sd1, with ttv lightened flywheel, now it's become so differcult to engage gears and clutch feels like it's dragging?
I previously ran the ttv flywheel with a heavy duty nelix 9.5" clutch plate and standard cover with no problems.
I read on the mcleod website that their plates take around 500 miles to bed in but I didn't expect things to be this bad?
Everything was fitted spot on, clutch fork etc aren't that old and in excellent condition so I'm a bit stumped as to what the problem is?
    Any help much appreciated.
    Cheers.

When I ran my 10.5 Mcleod,(double plate) it needed 2" of free play at the pedal, mine didn't need bedding in.
I've gone from a Mcleod to a sintered bronze double paddle clutch,I had to go down two sizes on the mastercylinder,as the pedal was too hard. You may have to play with different slave cylinders,(rover made 3 sizes) to try and get a decent pedal

Check how much throw(movement) you are getting on the pushrod, sounds like it's not disengaging. Dave

Have you got enough movement on the pedal to fully release the clutch, I had a similar problem with a part worn Mcloed clutch where the (racing) centre plate was quite thin and the cover fingers needed a lot of movement to fully release it. I've fitted a standard clutch which has a far thicker centre plate and it's now fine.

But you've fitted a new clutch so everything is different now.

Undo your slave cylinder, put a couple of washers between slave and bell housing,do bolts up,this will give you approx about an inch of play at pedal
