    Red faceRadio Codes?

Anyone able to help? I've just had some work done on a car I bought and it meant disconnecting the battery. When I got the car back, the radio wont work. When I switch it on, it says on the display 'SAFE'. Any idea what I need to do? The radio is a Vauxhall CDR500 and i have no paperwork and no code and no idea how to put it in if I did!!

My hour and a half journey to work and back each day is going to be a bummer until it's sorted!! Oh, and the CD wont work either and there is one in there!

Contact a vauxhall dealer (if its a stock radio) as they are fitted as per the chassis number (well they were when i worked for them) and im sure they can find out for ya (it was a long time ago)

I had this problem with er-indoors's Smart car a few years ago, I tried the local Merc dealer, and they couldn't (or wouldn't) help me. I googled it and found a bloke who got me the code, after I gave him the car details, for a fiver...and it worked....

Thanks both. The radio was fitted well after the car was new, so the chassis number route wont work, but thanks Vince. I'll try the 'google a guy to help' method!!!

When you bought your car did you get a red card with loads of numbers on it?? If so your radio code should be on there... I Had a Vauxhall corsa a few years ago....I Had the same problem, the battery was flat when I got the car and I had fun getting the radio to work once the battery had been changed....I rang a dealership and they told me how to plumb in the code....Easy really...if you dont have the code it could cost you a few quid to get one ...Or, change the radio....Lol....
