    Rev counter/speedo needles

Can anyone guide me as to how to remove the needles on the above
    clocks - both Smiths instruments.

One of the ways we used to do the imports years ago was to use a kitchen fork to gently pry the needles off, not Smiths but you get the idea.

I have used 2 methods in the past. 1. a pair of mini crow bars, like small tyre levers about 75mm long with a curved end that tucks up under the needle hub. You then lever aginst the face or movement whichever. I made these from some round bar and flattened and bent the end to make the bit that goes under the needle hub. 2. A small needle puller if you have a hole in the centre of the needle where the spindle is exposed. This is like a ball joint puller but much smaller. There is no strain on the shaft with this one. You do see them on ebay sometimes. Just one thing - dont disturb the needle unless you really have to. Best of luck with it

    Hi,
    managed to prise it off.
Next stage is to find a supplier who can provide or create a white vinyl (or similar)
speedo and tacho facia about 7" dia.
It is for a 1925 vintage-looking special and obviously I need to provide the graduations
for the speedo but the tacho just needs extending from the original positions.
