    Rover/B/W torque convertor question

Hi folks, a couple of years ago I bought a recon. 3.9 engine, c/w recon BW65 'box, plus 2 t orque convertors. These came as a "unit" but as separate items. Just after purchase they went into storage, with the Pop while I had a new bungalow built. So been in a few weeks, time to get the Pop together. Problem is one of the torque convertors fits the engine not the 'box, the other the 'box not the engine!!!! Three bolts right spigot for engine, or right shaft wrong spigot/four bolts for engine. Was told that engine /'box was originally done for an Ian Macmullons? Can he or anyone throw any light as to what I need please. Possibly bigger seal in 'box, is that hoping for to much?
    Regards Trevor

If you have a converter that has 3 bolts holding it to the flexplate, that's for a GM180 box. That won't fit into a BW gearbox. There are two types and sizes of BW converters, both with 4 bolts holding them to the flexplate, they also have different input shafts on the boxes. Another variation is the BW66 box, which has a bigger input shaft altogether. Fit that one to a BW65 box and you get no drive. Pics would help identify what you've got.

Which flexplate do you need? 3 holes for the converter or 4? presumably 4 if you want to use the BW box, but just checkin'.

I know what you mean about loading pics.

I'll have a look tomorrow sometime. I'm pretty sure I have a 4 hole plate without a ring gear fitted.
