Some readily available filter are just ****e , Halfords filter took out a mates engine, others have lost them to Fram. I go with a goodaftermarket that is OEM fitment as well something like Mahle.

Normally I would find an oil filter application book online and cross refer from the OEM listing regards thread and anti drain back valves and internal pop offs .The mate that fitted the Halfords filter on his said it was also a bit loose but tightened up ok. Was a metric internal thread just hanging on to an Imperial oil pump thread by a couple of though of pitch depth difference.

Ok the math 3/4 v 13/16 ..3/4 is 12/16 therefore 13/16 is 1/16 bigger or in thous it is 62 thous bigger spread around the diameter in decimals 3/4 is equal .750-13/16=.8125 and 20mm is equal to 7875 so 20mm is inbetween the two splitting hairs or thous really, as for pitch thread 1.5mm is close to 1/16inch. So it's close but not an exact equal, to answer the question and avoid the maths it's not a metric equivalent just something nearly the same .....and with that in mind has been used for rover v8 swaps successfully over many many years just look on the World Wide Web if you don't like what you see buy a filter sandwich plate simples ...and breath lol
