    rover v8 preload

Okay I know how to set preload apart from the question, do I tighten rocker arms down and then push up pushrods to insert feelers gauge or wire of correct thickness, between 20-60 thou seems to be the general consensus, or if not what is the best, easiest way? Cheers.

yes but if you have a higher lift cam you might run out of adjustment without using rocker pedestal shims

When I did my last Rover I used Go / no-go gauges. A simply small L shaped piece of copper wire . IF I remember correctly I used standard 13 amp solid wire and also 40 amp which were thw correct gauges. Remember with the shims you have to do the entire rocker assembly not just one pedestal

You can always flatten a piece of copper wire with a vice or hammer and check the thickness with a micrometer. I always set mine closer to the 20 Thou as this will give less pump up potential at high revs.
