Might sound silly but a mate of mine had the same problem. he had crp air filters on on with to low tick over and because they was to free flowing it had no sucking action so it died. We checked all ignition and replaced everything just to be sure and it was the filters.

Tought it was just at idle but wotever revs its at, upto 2500 on the tacho it still dies as if key has been turned of, isolated all electrics and started it direct feed from battery and still dies, no falter or stutter as if on fuel side, just stops as if switched of, so starting to think faulty distributor

NO cough or splutter at all like I say as if ignition key turned of, fitted a new powerspark electronic ignition ie DISTRIBUTOR,COIL , CAP and LEADS timing only static timed as cant get car to run long enough to strobe it , replacement dizzy and module coming tomorrow will try that ,weekend will reveal maybe a bit more
