    rover v8 wont rev , help !

    got a bit of a problem on a pals pop , 3500 rover v8 , auto g/box , twin su's . runs and revs up fine when in park but as soon as it gets put in any gear it will not rev up but ticks over fine ?
    anyone give advice on what it could be ???

    You have checked trans fluid levels?

    Could be gearbox issue, let's see if Mr Frost comes along...!!!

    i wondered if it could be the torque converter ? not really up to speed on auto stuff , anyone ???

    Does it have a points dizzy or electronic? Could be the gap shut down if points.

    Check you have put vac hoses on carbs correct.

    its on a points dizzy , all new & been right through all the ign and fuel system again , it only does it when it engages a gear , which must point to torque converter or the box itself ??? need to sort it as its booked in for an mot in a couple of weeks time ...

    i had a simular problem years ago with a x flow ,revved ok when it was in neutral.as soon as youput it in gear(was a manual)it was as flat as a pancake rev wise.it turned out to be the coil was breaking down under load.tooka lot of head scratching before we found out what the problem was.
