Right, will try to write this down so that it makes sense..
We have a 1965 289 Ford motor that came over with a car recently(unfitted)
It was a manual gearbox version, but the supplier in the states sent over a C4 with TC and a starter motor with it.
We had no flexplate but sourced a 157 tooth version.
On fitting it all up the starter motor is not long enough in its snout to allow the cog to reach the ring gear on the flexplate.
Measuring up,the starter has about 20mm of throw..the ring gear is about the same distance from the back of the block.
Anyone have any idea if there are different starters?
And if so,can you point me in the right direction of where i can find the parts we need?
