    SBF starter motors

    289/302 engine.Can anyone confirm that starter motors for manual cars are different for those running a C4?

    yes they are
    the ring gear is in a different position flywheel to flex plate
    I think its the maual ones Bendix sticks out less than the auto.

    quick way to check is to go to rock auto
    searcj 1987 ford mustang manual transmission, write down the part number and then see if it differs from the auto

    that said this is if using a fox bell house with a 1987 flywheel
    you can then get a mini starter If you like, they are smaller than the earlier ones
    I have for sale a bell - block-plate, fork, late flywheel, 10.5 pressure-plate and a cobra clutch disc
    ford a t5 - plus I have the starter I forgot about that ,
