    Sealant

    What kind of sealant do any of you recommend , I will be replacing the valley gasket this week on my rover v8 and have used blue hylomar before but last time I used it , it has gone hard and brittle, any suggestions , thanks David.

    but seriously have a look at the "permatex"range they have various types, one should be suitable.

    why dont you use a composite gasket. no need for sealant then.

    With respect your doing something wrong then, these should seal fine with out ......... are you sure the mating face on both parts is spotless / undamaged ?

    RTV Silcone gasket. I used this on my Chey valley gasket and it works great. Permatex make one which Real Steel sells but I think you can get RTV in most good car shops
