    SBC Sender question

Hi Guys - doing some re wiring on Chevy.

I have Oil & water temp guage and they have capillary fittings so they are all good.

My engine has another electrical sender located under left hand exhaust manifold - Would that be a water sender as it is in the head ?

Also Just behind the oil filter again on left hand side is a small hole that has a square headed blanking cap screwed in - I am presuming this would be a good place for a oil sender ??

What I am trying to do is fit an oil sender pressure switch to wire into my fuel pump so if engine stops then pump will also, also this can feed the dash light to show low pressure.

    anyone please ?

On an SBC (assume that's what you have?) the heads aren't handed, so there are two potential water sender points on the motor -one on each head. Usual place for the oil pressure sender is the 1/8 NPT tapping in the centre of the V behind the manifold, this tapping goes into an oil gallery so it sees what the bearings see, a tapping near the oil filter will see the pressure the oil filter sees which would probably be a bit higher as there's a surprising amount of hydraulic drag in the oilways.

I put a tee piece in the guage oil pressure line to run a warning light on my truck.
