SBC Starter?? Which Starter to go for?

I Think the starter has gone on my truck, 327ci sbc.
I think its the common problem of headers to close and won't turn it over when hot! Got stuck at a T junction in Bridgewater yesterday.
Its give up the ghost completly now.
Just wondered what is a good option to go for now if i gotta buy a new one?
    Any info would be great.

    Cheers Rich

I got a mini hi torque starter from kerry at originals £100.00 inc postage. Did have to modify it, as per another thread on here shim it back slightly. he will need to know if its a striaght hole or staggered.

it is a lot better, chevys do suffer from heatsoak.

Took it off this evening and it seems buggered but it is a staggered bolt hole mount one, but there is a threaded hole in line as well in the block???
Does this mean it will take both sorts of starters????

Yeah, the block will take both types, but only one will suit your ring-gear size.
I used to be plagued by heatsoak problems until I got a mini-starter.

I would steer clear of cheap ministarters. I've used Powermasters with great results.

You dont need to. If the old starter had a straight-across bolt pattern, its a 154T and if the bolts are staggered its a 168T
